We had a wonderful trip to the Damascus, VA area. The weather wasn't quite what we had expected, and we couldn't camp, since our favorite campground wasn't open for the season yet, and our next choice was WAY too windy and snowy! But we enjoyed ourselves nonetheless, hiking at Grayson Highlands State Park, visiting Damascus, and riding 40, yes, 40 miles on the Virginia Creeper Trail on our bikes. And then we came home to hail, hail, and more hail!

Aida

Martha made her stage debut this weekend in the WHS production of the musical "Aida." She played several small parts; a child at the museum in the opening and closing scenes, an Egyptian woman of the palace, where she sang and danced in a towel, and then a black and white dress, a young women of the palace at the banquet, and, since our school isn't quite black enough to cast all the Nubians needed, she even played a Nubian at the slave camp. It was a learning experience for us all!

And now, my second ever post to this blog. I just wanted to share the fun we had this weekend (Jan. 17-18) camping in the snow. To those of you who thought we were crazy for going, no we weren't. To those of you who said you wanted to come, you missed a GREAT trip--next time don't be such wimps!!
